Background

Wes Daniels began his duties as lead senior director of advancement for the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in September 2023.

No stranger to the University of South Carolina, Daniels spent over eight years working in USC's Office of Gift Planning prior to joining the College of HRSM. After serving as director of gift planning, Daniels was promoted to senior director of gift planning in his most recent post before being hired by HRSM. During his time in the Office of Gift Planning, Daniels graduated from the USC Emerging Leaders Program that prepares early-career, high potential faculty and staff leaders for mid-level leadership positions at USC.

Prior to USC, Daniels served as the director of major gifts and capital campaigns at his alma mater, Coker University, from 2007 to 2015. He also worked as an enrollment counselor and later was the director of marketing and promotions at Charleston Southern University from 2004 to 2007 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and psychology from Coker. In 2015, the Coker University Alumni Association honored him with its Distinguished Service Award.

An active member of the Hartsville Kiwanis Club where he was once named the Kiwanian of the Year, Daniels serves on the South Carolina Planned Giving Council Board as well. He is also active and passionate about his work with the American Heart Association as one of his children was born with HLHS and has undergone three open heart surgeries.

Daniels resides in Hartsville, South Carolina, with his wife, Lacey Edens Daniels, and their three children, Wilson, Simms and Flora Kathryn. He enjoys Gamecock athletics, particularly football and baseball, as well as anything on the water, traveling with friends and family, and volunteering at his children's school.
