Zanne Tenney Augur, MIBS

Zanne Tenney Augur has 25 years in international marketing working in various international posts, including Paris, France, and Dubai, U.A.E. After earning a Master of International Business from the Darla Moore School of Business, Augur started an event and PR company in Dubai, running major events such as the FIFA World Congress and the Dubai International Shopping Festival.

Marianne C. Bickle, Ph.D.

Marianne Bickle serves as professor in the Department of Retailing for the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management. Bickle formerly served as director of the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (BAIS) program and director of online learning for the college. She at one time was chair of the Department of Retailing as well, and under her leadership, the department was ranked second in North America for its scholarly research output.

Sang-Eun Byun, associate professor, Department of Retailing

Sang-Eun Byun, Ph.D.

Sang-Eun Byun is an associate professor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Byun received a Ph.D. in Retailing from Michigan State University. She currently teaches retail promotion, with an emphasis on social listening and analytics. Her research interests include (1) consumer’s cognitive, emotional, neural, and behavioral reactions in offline/online retail environments, (2) customer engagement and experience creation, (3) CSR communication strategies, and (4) small business and entrepreneurship.

Jeffrey Campbell, Retailing Department Chair, Associate Professor

Jeffrey M. Campbell, Ph.D.

Jeffrey M. Campbell serves as department chair and associate professor of retailing at the University of South Carolina. Campbell serves on the Higher Education Advisory Board for the Category Management Association. He received his Ph.D. in retail, hospitality, and tourism from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a minor in marketing.

Eckton C. Chinyanga, Ed.D., MBA

Eckton C. Chinyanga, Ed.D., MBA, serves as an accounting instructor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. After graduating from Tennessee State University, Chinyanga started his career with TSU in the College of Business (Accounting and Business Law department) as an adjunct accounting instructor where he spent 7 years teaching principles of accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, and international business. He also worked as the financial analyst in the Finance and Accounting department.

Karen Lear Edwards, senior instructor, Retailing

Karen Lear Edwards, J.D.

Karen Edwards serves as interim associate dean of academic programs as well as interim co-director / BAIS and online programs and is a senior instructor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Recipient of the University’s 2019 Garnet Apple Award for Teaching Innovation, the 2017 Faculty Integrity Award, and the 2010-11 Harry E. Varney Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award, Edwards teaches in the areas of digital commerce, asset protection and law-related issues affecting retailers. Edwards has developed numerous undergraduate and graduate-level courses, such as Law for Retailers, Fashion and the Law and Asset Protection for Retailers.

Kristy Paradise Ellison, CPA, MACC

Kristy Paradise Ellison serves as an instructor in the Department of Retailing in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of South Carolina, Ellison served as the business administration program director and accounting instructor at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina. Ellison began her career in academia in 2000 teaching at Aiken Technical College. She has taught courses in accounting principles, cost accounting, intermediate accounting, computerized accounting, payroll accounting, governmental/not-for-profit accounting, business ethics and law, personal finance and business math.

Lyndsey Herring

Lindsey Herring serves as the administrative coordinator for the Department of Retailing in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management. Prior to joining the Department of Retailing, Lyndsey Herring worked for five years as an operations specialist at Training Concepts. In 2019, Herring accepted the position of director of Alumni Relations at the University of South Carolina Alumni Association, working with the Board of Governors, membership and the marketing team, and serving alumni.

Daniel Kim, J.D.

Daniel Kim joined the University of South Carolina's College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in fall 2022 as an instructor in the Department of Retailing. He is a three-time graduate of USC and is also the owner and CEO of Legacy Martial Arts.

Jiyeon Kim, associate professor

Jiyeon Kim, Ph.D.

Jiyeon Kim, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Kim holds degrees in apparel merchandising and retail management, fashion merchandising, fashion design and marketing, and clothing and textiles. She teaches in the areas of retail promotion, international retailing and retail shopper analysis.

Jung-Hwan Kim, associate professor, Department of Retailing, College of HRSM

Jung-Hwan Kim, Ph.D.

Jung-Hwan Kim is an associate professor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Kim completed her doctoral degree in 2006 at The Ohio State University. At the University of South Carolina, Kim teaches courses in merchandising and fashion product analysis.

Saundra Koesters

Saundra Koesters is responsible for managing the day-to-day store operations of the Gamecock iHub Apple Authorized Campus Store as well as coordinating, training, and developing the Department of Retailing student interns who are responsible for operating the store in fulfillment of their retail practicum and internship requirements. She attended The Ohio State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and textiles. She has over 30 years of retail management experience with iconic brands such as Banana Republic, The Gap, J.Crew, and Land’s End.

Hanna Lee, M.A., Ph.D.

After receiving her Ph.D. in textile technology and management at NCSU, Hanna Lee started her academic career as an assistant professor of marketing at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania before joining the department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Lee has taught courses in digital marketing, consumer behavior, luxury brand management, fashion retail management, fashion history at NCSU and Susquehanna University since 2020.

Mike Moody, retailing instructor

Mike Moody, Ph.D.

Michael Moody serves as an instructor in the Department of Retailing in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at the University of South Carolina. Prior to becoming an instructor, Moody was the director of practicum and internships in the Department of Retailing.

Joohyung Park, associate professor, retailing

Joohyung Park, Ph.D., M.S.

Joohyung Park is an associate professor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Park joined the department after receiving her Ph.D. in consumer behavior from Purdue University. Before pursuing her Ph.D., Park worked full time as a marketing researcher and a brand consultant for six years in Seoul, where she gained hands-on experience in various industries.

Md. Rafiqul Islam Rana, M.S., Ph.D.

Md. Rafiqul Islam Rana is an assistant professor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. Rana joined the department after receiving his master’s and Ph.D. in textile and apparel management from the University of Missouri. He also holds a B.Sc. degree in textile engineering, majoring in fabric manufacturing technology.

Stephanie Taylor, M.A.

Stephanie Taylor joined the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management's Department of Retailing as an instructor in January 2023. Taylor came to HRSM with a progressive history of positive contributions in both educational settings and the private sector. Her academic background includes administrative roles in areas such as faculty development and training, accreditation and compliance standards, and curriculum development and program review.

Mike Watson, Instructor, Department of Retailing, College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management

Michael Watson, Ed.D.

Michael Watson has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and believes deeply in connecting elements of academic learning with beyond the classroom opportunities. He holds various positions including undergraduate director for the Department of Retailing, instructor, Senior Faculty Fellows for the Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning, and store director for the Gamecock iHUB, the authorized on-campus Apple retailer.

Donna Watts, instructor, retailing

Donna Watts, M.S.

Donna Watts is an instructor in the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and Master of Science in Textiles, Clothing, and Interior Design from Winthrop University in S.C. Prior to teaching, Watts worked in the retail industry for eight years in various capacities, including management of two jewelry stores for a large corporation.

Daniel J. Williams, instructor, retailing

Daniel J. Williams, CPA, M.S.

Daniel J. Williams serves as an instructor for the Department of Retailing in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management  at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining the faculty at USC in fall 2017, Williams served on the faculty at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, as an accounting professor for 17 years. He taught courses in accounting principles, intermediate accounting, income taxes and auditing while working at Shepherd.
