Background
Ayse Ozturk is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business, where her teaching and research focus on artificial intelligence (AI) in marketing. Previously, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She received her Ph.D. in Marketing from Georgia State University. Her prior industry experience includes roles at companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, and Peugeot.
Her research interests include AI, marketing strategy, digital marketing, international marketing, social media, and sustainability. Her publications have appeared in journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, International Business Review, Thunderbird International Business Review, and the Journal of Business Research, as well as in book chapters and other creative works. She has taught undergraduate, Honors College, MBA, and PMBA courses, including an AI in Marketing course she developed. Dr. Ozturk serves on the editorial review board of the International Business Review and has reviewed for several journals and the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong.
Dr. Ozturk is recognized for innovative teaching that integrates AI and experiential learning. She has given talks and faculty workshops on AI in higher education at institutions including Georgia State University, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Michigan State University. Her work on transforming teaching with AI has been featured by OpenAI Academy, The Wall Street Journal, and Poets&Quants. She was selected for the USC Propel AI program and USC's Provost's AI Teaching Fellowship. Her teaching has earned the Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate Teaching Award (one of the University's highest honors for teaching), the Garnet Apple Award for Teaching Innovation, and the Alfred G. Smith, Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching, among others.
At the Moore School, she serves on the AI Initiative Committee and organizes the Gamecock AI Founders Meetup for student AI startup founders. She also maintains drayseozturk.org, a free AI literacy resource hub for educators and students that includes her weekly updated AI in Marketing digital textbook.
