Why did you choose USC Rice School of Law?
I always knew I wanted to return home to practice law and raise my family in South Carolina. Every attorney I spoke with emphasized the strength and close-knit nature of the South Carolina legal community, and many encouraged me to attend USC Law because of its strong connections throughout the state.
What advice would you give a first-year law student?
One piece of advice I would give to incoming students is to prioritize finding a close group of people from each section. Having friends who understand the unique challenges of law school—and who can support, encourage, and motivate one another—makes all the difference.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
One accomplishment I’m especially proud of from law school was earning “Best Oralist” in my Legal Research, Analysis, & Writing II class during my 1L year. At the end of the semester, each student presents an oral argument before their professor acting as the judge, and one student from each section is selected for delivering the strongest argument. Because oral advocacy was something that initially made me nervous, receiving that recognition was incredibly rewarding and gave me a lot of confidence in my abilities
