Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Jessaca Spybrook and I am joining the Education Research & Measurement Program. I recently completed a 3-year rotation as a Program Officer in the STEM Education Directorate at the National Science Foundation. Before serving as a Program Officer, I spent 14 years as a faculty member in the Evaluation, Measurement, and Research Program at Western Michigan University.
What will you be doing as a faculty member?
As a faculty member, I look forward to continuing my line of research, teaching classes, advising students, and serving the USC community.
What is your area of research expertise?
My research focuses on improving the design and analysis of impact studies in education. I engage in methodological work, applied studies, and capacity building efforts.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 kids (20 and 18). We love outdoor activities including downhill skiing in the winter and spending time at the lake in the summer.
What are you currently reading, watching, or listening to?
Reading is one of my favorite ways to relax. My favorite books are mysteries. I recently finished God of the Woods by Liz Moore.
What is your advice for current students?
Get involved! Get to know your professors and classmates. Graduate school offers far more than just coursework – immersing yourself fully in your program can lead to a positive and more rewarding experience.
