Instructor of Studio Art and Design

2D and 3D studio art

The faculty of the School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a full time, professional-track position at the rank of Instructor to begin August 16, 2025.  The position is a 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 8 courses for the academic year. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.

The candidate will be a dynamic teacher and practicing artist with skills in a combination of one or more of the 2D disciplines of drawing, painting, and/or printmaking. Skills in 3D studio art foundations (sculpture and/or ceramics) are also welcome. The instructor will primarily teach undergraduate 2D studio art courses at the introductory and intermediate levels and, as needed, at the advanced level. The position’s teaching load is a 4/4 (fall/spring) with 10% of time allocated to service (i.e., attending studio area and school meetings, collaborating with faculty on curriculum matters, and occasional service on school level committees).
