Some majors have internship courses that are approved to fulfill the Honors Beyond the Classroom requirement. Students can check with their major advisor and individual college to inquire about major-specific internship courses or browse the Honors College BTC Database.
Students are responsible for keeping their Honors advisor informed if they plan on enrolling in an internship course through their major and confirming that the internship is approved to fulfill the Honors BTC requirement. Students will either self-enroll or be enrolled through their department.
If approved, when the student successfully completes the internship course with a grade of “C” or better and the course appears on the student’s transcript, the Honors advisor will note completion of the BTC requirement on the student’s Honors advising form. Nine hours of approved non-Honors BTC coursework in a student’s major can fulfill Honors College requirements – the 3 credit BTC requirement and up to 2 Honors electives.
